Does Unity Really Come from Emphasizing Diversity?

So what are we teaching our kids when our public (read government) schools send out the following?

Attached is a list of Multi-Cultural Conference opportunities for students. _____________ High School will not be providing transportation to these conferences, but we will excuse students from their classes if they choose to attend.
